Industrial Residence

Concept Design

Envisioned as a striking architectural statement within the urban landscape of Mataram, the Industrial Residence concept embraces raw materiality and unpretentious form. The design challenges conventional residential norms by boldly celebrating structural elements that are traditionally hidden.

The defining characteristic of this concept is the extensive use of board-formed exposed concrete. This robust material not only provides structural integrity but also introduces a tactile, brutalist aesthetic that anchors the home firmly to its site. The concrete's natural gray tones are beautifully offset by sleek black steel framing and expansive panels of high-performance glass.

Despite its industrial influences, the residence remains deeply rooted in tropical design principles. Generous roof overhangs and strategic orientation ensure the large glazed areas are protected from direct solar heat gain, while allowing for abundant natural daylight. The design seamlessly integrates an outdoor living terrace and a reflective plunge pool, blurring the boundaries between interior comfort and outdoor relaxation.

The interior spatial arrangement prioritizes open-plan living, creating a sense of volume and fluidity. By stripping back unnecessary ornamentation, the Industrial Residence allows the purity of its materials and the interplay of light and shadow to define the living experience.
